No, a referral is not required. You can book directly with RiVana Women’s Clinic.

One of the benefits of virtual care is timely access. Most patients can book an appointment much sooner than traditional in-person clinics.

RiVana Women’s Clinic is a private clinic, and appointment fees are not covered by provincial healthcare plans in Canada. However, many patients may be able to submit their visit for reimbursement through private or employer-based insurance plans, depending on their coverage for Nurse Practitioner (NP) services. NP services are generally categorized under “paramedical” or “extended health services” rather than physician services. We recommend checking directly with your insurer.

We will provide you with a detailed receipt after your appointment for insurance or other eligible claims. Depending on your individual circumstances, NP appointments may also be eligible for reimbursement through a Health Spending Account (HSA) or as an eligible medical expense for income tax purposes. Eligibility varies, so please confirm with your plan administrator or tax professional.

While the appointment itself is private, many related services remain publicly covered in Canada, including:

  • Laboratory blood work ordered by a licensed provider
  • Diagnostic testing such as mammograms and ultrasounds when referred
  • Specialist referrals and follow-up care within the public system

Medications prescribed as part of your care may also be covered under private or employer-sponsored drug benefits, depending on your individual plan.

You can book an appointment directly through our website. Once booked, you’ll receive instructions on how to prepare for your virtual visit.

Yes. Nurse Practitioners can order laboratory tests when needed and review the results with you. Lab testing helps provide insight into your health and supports personalized care planning.

Not necessarily. Some treatments can be started based on symptoms and medical history alone, while others may require lab work first. Your provider will discuss this with you during your appointment.

Yes. Virtual care is a well-established and regulated form of healthcare in Canada. Our providers are licensed, and all appointments are conducted using secure, privacy-compliant platforms.

Follow-up timelines vary depending on your care plan, treatment started, and whether lab work is required. Your provider will outline next steps and recommended follow-up during your appointment.

RiVana Women’s Clinic is a specialized practice focused exclusively on virtual menopause care and targeted weight management support. Because our scope is dedicated to these specific areas, our Nurse Practitioners do not act as primary care doctors or replace your regular family physician. We complement your routine health care, so we recommend maintaining a primary provider for physical exams and general medical needs.

If you require a Pap test, your Nurse Practitioner can refer you to an appropriate in-person provider or women’s health specialist for the exam. We help coordinate your care and review results with you once available, ensuring continuity and support.

If additional testing such as a mammogram, ultrasound, or other diagnostic imaging is needed, your Nurse Practitioner can provide the appropriate requisitions or referrals. We guide you through the next steps and review results with you, so your care remains coordinated and seamless.

We require at least 48 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. This can be done via the Patient Portal. If you need immediate assistance and unable to access your portal for cancellations, you can email us at info@rivanawomenshealth.ca

• Late Cancellation/No-Show Fee: A $150 fee applies if cancelled within 48 hours or for no-shows. This fee must be paid before booking future appointments and is not covered by insurance.

Refunds apply only to initial appointments and are reviewed strictly on a case-by-case basis.

  • Qualification Criteria: A partial refund may only be considered if our Nurse Practitioner determines they are entirely unable to assist with your concern or provide any applicable alternative clinical options.

  • Treatment Eligibility Notice: Refunds are not provided if a specific medication or treatment is requested but determined to be medically inappropriate or unsafe based on the practitioner’s expert clinical judgment. You are paying for the practitioner’s medical evaluation and time, not a guaranteed prescription.

  • How to Request: Submit a written request within seven (7) days of your appointment detailing why care could not be provided.

  • Resolutions & Final Decision: Approved requests may receive a partial refund of up to 50% or a one-time complimentary reschedule with another provider. All management decisions are final.

RiVana Women’s Clinic is committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all patients, staff, and clinicians. Our staff work hard to provide the best care possible, and we expect our patients to treat our team with respect. Abusive or harassing behaviour toward our team will not be tolerated.

Menopause stage assessment: Understand your transition!

What stage of menopause are you in?

Navigating the changes in your body can be overwhelming, but you don't have to do it alone. This 2-minute assessment is designed to help you identify whether, and where, you might be in the menopause transition.

Answer a few questions about your recent cycles and symptoms to identify your probable stage of menopause. At the end, we will provide an initial guide to your current stage.

Note: This assessment is a guide and does not replace a clinical diagnosis. If you have urgent concerns, please reach out to us directly.
