What can nurse practitioners help you with:

Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are licensed healthcare professionals with advanced clinical training who provide comprehensive, patient-centered care. They assess health concerns, coordinate appropriate testing, and offer personalized guidance and follow-up within their professional scope. NPs practice independently and focus on evidence-based, holistic care to support overall health and well-being.

No, a referral is not required. You can book directly with RiVana Health Inc.

One of the benefits of virtual care is timely access. Most patients can book an appointment much sooner than traditional in-person clinics.

RiVana Health Inc. is a private clinic, and the cost of appointments is not covered by provincial healthcare plans in Canada. However, many patients are able to submit their visit for reimbursement through private or employer-based insurance plans, depending on their coverage for Nurse Practitioner services. In most private insurance plans in Canada, Nurse Practitioner (NP) services are generally categorized under “paramedical” or “extended health services,” rather than physician services, but we recommend checking directly with your insurer. We will provide you with a detailed receipt to submit to your insurer after your appointment.

While the appointment itself is private, many related services remain publicly covered in Canada, including:

  • Laboratory blood work ordered by a licensed provider

  • Diagnostic testing such as imaging (e.g., mammograms, ultrasounds) when referred

  • Specialist referrals and follow-up care within the public system

You can book an appointment directly through our website. Once booked, you’ll receive instructions on how to prepare for your virtual visit.

Yes. Nurse Practitioners can order laboratory tests when needed and review the results with you. Lab testing helps provide insight into your health and supports personalized care planning.

Not necessarily. Some treatments can be started based on symptoms and medical history alone, while others may require lab work first. Your provider will discuss this with you during your appointment.

Yes. Virtual care is a well-established and regulated form of healthcare in Canada. Our providers are licensed, and all appointments are conducted using secure, privacy-compliant platforms.

Follow-up timelines vary depending on your care plan, treatment started, and whether lab work is required. Your provider will outline next steps and recommended follow-up during your appointment.

RiVana Health Nurse Practitioners can provide ongoing virtual care for many general women’s health concerns, including assessments, lab requests, and follow-up support. While we offer comprehensive virtual care, we recommend keeping a primary care provider for in-person needs or services that require physical examinations. Our goal is to complement your care and ensure you have consistent, reliable support when you need it.

If you require a Pap test, your RiVana Health Nurse Practitioner can refer you to an appropriate in-person provider or women’s health specialist for the exam. We help coordinate your care and review results with you once available, ensuring continuity and support.

If additional testing such as a mammogram, ultrasound, or other diagnostic imaging is needed, your Nurse Practitioner can provide the appropriate requisitions or referrals. We guide you through the next steps and review results with you, so your care remains coordinated and seamless.

We require at least 48 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. This can be done via the Patient Portal. If you need immediate assistance and unable to access your portal for cancellations, you can email us at info@rivanawomenshealth.ca

• Late Cancellation/No-Show Fee: A $100 fee applies if cancelled within 48 hours or for no-shows. This fee must be paid before booking future appointments and is not covered by insurance.

• Fee Waivers: The fee is waived if you reschedule your booked appointment within the same week (even within the 48-hour window), otherwise a $100 late fee will still apply. Please access the portal where you can reschedule.

• Emergencies: Exceptions are made for true emergencies (e.g., illness or hospitalization) on a case-by-case basis. Forgotten appointments or mind changes do not qualify for waivers.

Refunds at RiVana Women’s Health are not guaranteed and are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

  • How to Request: You must submit a written request within seven (7) days of your appointment if you feel the provider was unable to assist you at all with your concern nor provide applicable services.

  • Potential Resolutions: If approved, you may be offered a partial refund of up to 50% of the fee or the opportunity to reschedule one appointment at no cost with a different provider.

  • Exclusions: No refunds are issued for factors outside the clinic’s control, including treatment preferences, clinical recommendations, or medical outcomes. Specifically, refunds are not provided if a patient’s request for a specific treatment is denied based on the practitioner’s professional expert opinion and clinical judgment.

  • Final Decisions: The determination of eligibility and any resulting resolution rests exclusively with our management team, and all decisions are final.

RiVana Health Inc. is committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all patients, staff, and clinicians. Our staff work hard to provide the best care possible, and we expect our patients to treat our team with respect. Abusive or harassing behaviour toward our team will not be tolerated.
